Senior Delivery Volunteer

💚 Help make fresh, affordable produce more accessible for older adults in the Fairview community.

This program provides a low-barrier and accessible way for seniors to purchase fresh produce close to home. Volunteers work together to prepare pre-ordered produce baskets, deliver orders to seniors participating in a program at Vimy Ridge, and process payments upon delivery.

In this role, you will:

• Assemble pre-ordered produce baskets.

• Assist with delivering orders to seniors.

• Process payments at the time of delivery.

• Provide a friendly and respectful point of connection for program participants.

🚗 A vehicle is not required for this role; however, it is recommended that at least one volunteer on each delivery team has access to transportation.

🌱 By volunteering, you'll help reduce barriers to food access while supporting the health, independence, and well-being of local seniors.

This role is a great fit for caring, dependable people who enjoy connecting with seniors and making a difference in their community. You are comfortable assisting with produce deliveries, carrying bags and baskets, and working as part of a team.

🚗 Access to a vehicle is helpful, but not required, as long as at least one volunteer on your delivery team has transportation.

✅ A valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

🌱 Most importantly, you bring kindness, reliability, and a commitment to supporting local seniors.

Training & Orientation

🌱 Getting Started

To ensure a safe, positive, and consistent experience for everyone, all volunteers are required to complete a Mobile Food Market Volunteer Orientation before beginning their volunteer role.

Following orientation, volunteers will receive hands-on, role-specific training from the Mobile Food Market team. This training will provide the knowledge, skills, and support needed to feel confident and prepared while volunteering.

Whether you're supporting Market Prep, a Community Market, or the Community Café, our team will ensure you understand your responsibilities, safety procedures, and the impact your role has in helping bring fresh, affordable food to our communities.

💚 No previous experience is necessary. We'll provide the training, guidance, and support you need to succeed.

Many seniors experience barriers to accessing healthy food, including mobility challenges, transportation limitations, health concerns, and social isolation. As a Senior Delivery Volunteer, you'll play an important role in helping people remain connected to their community while ensuring they have access to fresh, nutritious food.

3. Complete the required Mobile Food Market Volunteer Orientation and role-specific training.
