SENIORS FRESH FOOD BOX PROGRAM

The Seniors Fresh Food Box Program is a “by seniors, for seniors” food access initiative. The program initially launched as a pilot project in two seniors residence buildings, one in North Dartmouth and one in North End Halifax, and is now a year-round program that engages and benefits seniors within HRM.

The Fresh Food Box Program is designed to make healthy, high quality, fresh fruits and vegetables more accessible to seniors within each residence building, while also giving seniors the opportunity to apply skills, give feedback, and contribute ideas. Residents are in charge of engaging their neighbours, ordering produce, creating produce bundles, and delivering bundles to units in their building.

Are you a senior resident or support worker in a residence building within HRM? Are you interested in exploring whether the Fresh Food Box Program could benefit residents in your building? Contact foodequity@mobilefoodmarket.ca to learn more!
